INSPIRATION FOR THE BOOK
I like sci-fi because it represents the future and endless possibilities,
With this book, I aimed to entertain and explore profound questions
about humanity's trajectory.
We need better leadership. We are fast approaching advanced AI. We may live much longer - 300, 400, or 500 years. What will we do? How will society adapt?
Selene's Shadow represents my "optimistic possibility" for the future. It envisions the emergence of highly advanced spaceship AI and fusions of humans fighting humans. We face bigger issues than that - issues requiring humanity's cooperation to overcome.
MY WRITING PROCESS
I have a very comfy chair. My laptop sits on my lap, and off I go!
When driving or in the shower, I replay conversations from the book in my head. Sometimes, I wake up with new ideas. But by and large, the book writes itself. I generally know where I want it to go - I have to smoothly transport the reader for the ride.
I credit my vivid cast of characters like Shade, Selene, and Sorrento
for seeming to have a life of their own. Listening to what intriguing figures like these want to say and do is the best route to crafting their gripping journey.
